Michelle Swithenbank

Principal and CEO

Hull College Group

Topic: Leadership through effective internal communication

Michelle Swithenbank is leading a transformation of Hull College Group as head of a new team appointed following previous financial and operational issues.

A former nurse, Michelle’s career in education began after she started training others to join the profession, sparking a passion for learning.

She has held senior positions at colleges across the country and believes in a ‘students first, staff always’ culture to achieve the best results for all.

Michelle believes in leading from the front, modelling the behaviours that drives the culture she is nurturing.

Today we hear about a new tripartite relationship that she has led, born from a city need to plug essential skills gaps and fulfilling her philosophy of selling “careers, not courses”.
